Changing Places Assessment & Certification

Elite Compliance provides assessment and certification for Changing Places facilities.

Changing Places facilities are larger, accessible toilets designed for people with high support needs who may require extra space, specialised equipment and assistance from a carer.

Our role is to help make sure these facilities are designed and built to meet the requirements of the Changing Places Design Specifications 2020.

Assessment from design through to completion

Getting the design right early can prevent expensive changes later.

Elite Compliance can review Changing Places facilities during the design stage and work with architects, designers and project teams as the design develops.

We can also assess completed facilities to confirm they have been built in line with the required specifications.

Changing Places Accreditation

A facility must go through the Changing Places accreditation process before it can display the Changing Places logo and be recognised as an accredited Changing Places facility.

Once a completed facility has been assessed and confirmed as compliant, Elite Compliance can issue a Statement of Compliance.

The facility owner or manager can then apply to have the facility listed as an accredited Changing Places facility.

Accessible Adult Change Facilities and the NCC

The National Construction Code also requires Accessible Adult Change Facilities in certain larger public buildings.

These can include:

Large shopping centres
Major sports venues
Some swimming pool facilities
Large museums and art galleries
Large theatres and entertainment venues
Domestic and international passenger airports

While an Accessible Adult Change Facility does not automatically have to be accredited as a Changing Places facility, designing it to the Changing Places specifications can help it meet the required accessibility standards.

A clearer path to compliance

Elite Compliance works with your project team to identify requirements early, review the design and help resolve issues before construction is complete.

Each assessment is carefully checked against the Changing Places Design Specifications.

Once the facility meets the requirements, we can provide the certification needed to support Changing Places accreditation.
